Firstly, I’m a skeptic. And I’m old. Being in IT for decades (from the very early days), I’m seen our lives elevated (sometimes degraded) through various technical advancements of gadgets, software, and technologies. Not all of them were worth the value people placed on them. And I’m not real keen on technology for technology’s sake. I am more interested in functionality, efficiency, and value; things that actually add value to people’s lives and that can stand the test of time. Sometimes nothing beats old-school know how and a little human effort…and, of course, a Kirby vacuum. I have to say, though, I am not only very pleased with my bObsweep, I am enthralled; entranced. It’s fun to watch. It’s fun to work with. It’s like a new toy. While I don’t really view bObsweep as an addition to the family or household as others might (kinda cute), I am just as enthusiastic about it being the newest piece of gadgetry that I’ve embraced, and it has actually enhanced my daily life. I am a true believer now.

I had always thought the Roomba was a pretty cool idea…but not for the price. This year I found myself with the opportunity to possibly buy one, though it had to be very reasonably priced and efficient in its performance. We have two inside/outside dogs and a 2000+ sq-ft house – lots of rooms, lots of dog hair and dust, and 20+ years worth of clutter – and we were way behind schedule with our Kirby usage. But I knew I needed to do something. So, after a lot of research, I decided on bObsweep. It had all the features I wanted including a mop that could be used wet or dry and one of the best suctioning motors and it came at a very reasonable price. It even included features like a remote control (not common for many), a HEPA filter (for allergens), and a UV light for sterilizing/disinfecting the floor from viruses and bacteria. I thought those features might be important with my sinus problems and allergies. I did decide, however, that a machine rated for pet hair was not worth the extra cost; the bObsweep standard sounded like it could do the job. So I got one. Almost two months later and I am thrilled with my purchase.

Now, I know that robotic vacuums are designed for lighter duty vacuuming – like the times between housecleaning – but I wasn’t going to wait til I cleaned the house to start using my new device. I did, however, move stuff around setting boundaries and getting cords out of the way and did a cursory vacuuming ahead of the bObsweep (as it ran its course), getting the bigger messes out of the way. And that worked great. I noticed that I had to empty the bin with every use; sometimes, after a room or two. I’ve even wiped him down (inside and out) a couple times with a damp paper towel to rid him of the dust build up. But that need has diminished since bOb helps keep the dust and hair level down. The bObsweep was not designed for “industrial” cleaning (like the shape my house was in) and none of them really are. But it survived its trial by fire and has done an awesome job. The robovacs are really meant as a daily supplement to periodic cleaning and bObsweep has helped in keeping the house cleaned and maintained. The house looks and feels cleaner with no hair, dust, or grit on the floors. My floors are concrete, tile, and linoleum depending on the room and bOb maneuvers one to the other with ease. I usually let him wander about the house cleaning. When I want something specific cleaned, I grab the remote, direct him to an area, and set him free again. And he always finds his way back to the charging station.

I would not say robotic vacuums are perfect but I am very pleased with my bObsweep investment. It was very affordable and its performance has actually exceeded my expectations. It helps keep up the cosmetics of my living space while requiring (basically) nothing from me. I saw, from the beginning, the impact he made on the house. In fact, bObsweep’s performance has actually motivated me to do more myself and clean a lot of areas more thoroughly and remove a lot of the clutter. Who knows where that could lead?!

  • Don't recommend buy not iRobot Roomba is much better. on

I was very excited when I first got Bob. It disappointed me immediately. It won’t vacuum carpets that have dark/light patterns. Instructions say to blind it by putting rubber pads over sensors. Still would not vacuum dark /light carpet. Pads fell off first time I used them. Side brush comes off frequently and has to be replaced. No sensors to block off rooms. Really doesn’t do 1000 sgft as stated. Dock station stopped working after 6 months. If I hd the money I would trash Bob and get an iRobot Roomba.

    AMAZING!!!!!

We absolutely love our bOb! We purchased the bobsweep pet hair plus and we are actually a little embarrassed of how much dust, dirt, crumbs, and pet hair he picked up. Bob cleans the entire floor and under furniture including under the bed! My house feels so much cleaner with bOb and now vacuuming and mopping is one less thing I have to worry about :) We highly reccommend bobsweep pet hair plus to anyone! By far the best purchase my husband and I have ever made! Also, the customer service is fabulous!

  • Pets galore on

I love Bob but he hates thresholds. I have 130 year old wood floors in most of my house and newer ones in the rest. the thresholds kill him. If he goes at an angle he’s fine, if not he gets stuck and my floors stay a mess. My other branded robotic vacuum has no trouble with this.
He cane seem to clean on schedule either. I set it but he doesn’t seem to want to come on at the scheduled times. It’s either I wait until I have a day off and follow him around (in which case I may as well be vacuuming myself as I don’t it’s spots) or he’s on all the time and I get woken up cause he’s crashing into things or getting stuck.
Aside from that he cleans great and the dust bin is the biggest of all the 3 brands of robotic vacuums I’ve had.
I tried to call customer service but I kept getting placed on hold then hung up on. Very frustrating overall. In short Bob is great if you have to thresholds in your house or arrange rugs for that matter (he doesn’t have transitions of any kind well) expecially if you have pets or messy children and just don’t want to vacuum every say.

  • Totally Disappointed on

I was so thrilled the day I ordered my robotic vacuum. Although the joy did not last long. Did you know you should run Bob every 3-4 days? I didn’t. I only need to vacuum once a week, although, according to Customer Service Bob should be activated every 3-4 days. If it is charged for more than 4 days, when you want to use Bob, he will not work, he is overcharged. This is extremely frustrating. If I did activate Bob on a 3-4 day schedule I would have to remember to remove the floor heat vents, as he tends to get stuck on them. Then there is the couch and love seat, Bob tends to get stuck there too. The dishwasher door has to be down, otherwise Bob gets stuck there. He will not always vacuum the area rugs, some days he will, some days he doesn’t, he tends to not like the height of the rugs. If I forget to close the bathroom doors, he gets stuck on the threshold. So when I have gone to work and forgotten to block off the couch and love seat, opened the dishwasher door, removed the heat vents, and picked up the rugs, I get home and Bob has run out of power and stuck somewhere. I am no longer thrilled about my robotic vacuum. In fact, I want to throw it out the window, but I can’t do that as he might get stuck.

I would not recommend this product to anyone. I too would not give it to anyone I know. In fact I would appreciate a total refund from the company, what a waste of $249.00.

    Totally Disappointed
